Hello,
I started a thread a few weeks ago about swapping a 350 for a 454 but this topic is slightly different so I figured I'd start a new thread. My dad can get a rebuilt turn-key 454 truck motor for free. I know for a fact that I would have to change the following:
-Starter
-Alternator
-Distributor
-Carburetor
-Fuel Pump (Electric?)
-Brass Core Plugs
-Marine Head Gaskets
-Add a Bravo Coupler
I have a brand new Delco Voyager EST ignition system, and the 1986 merc 350 to take any other parts that will fit (alternator, carb, more?). Is there anything else that I need to change out to make this engine both legal and practical for marine use? If so, is it even worth it to take the motor, or will the costs keep adding up? Thanks in advance.
