Robby Gordon is making a good showing and is off to a fine start in his Jim Beam Hummer H3.

5th in stage 3, the first stage in Africa.
8th overall, 4 minutes behind the leader, 14 days to go.

Re: Dakar 2006

That is one cool race. I used to follow it back in the day when I raced dirt bikes. It was known as the Paris to Dakar rally. The guys in trucks have guts but the guys on bikes are iron men.

Re: Dakar 2006

I recal an interview with a Swiss Biker some yrs back. When asked what the most frightening part of the race was he answered, "when you hear a truck coming up behind you getting ready to go past you".
I enjoy it all, but the best part is the support trucks race.
Cheers
Phillip

Unfortunately our media coverage of the race is rather poor.
Only about 18 minutes a day, barely scratches the surface.
A few years ago we were treated to 90 minutes a day.
