I have a Jonhson 130 SeaPro outboard engine. Does water remain in the lower unit when it is tilted all the way up and out of the water, using power tilt? If so, is there a danger of water freezing and cracking something? :) Sorry I didn't mention this earlier, but the motor is on my boat and the boat is in the water.

Johnson manual states that the water drains out when in the vertical. If you have the engine in the vertical for about 15 min.,Ihave found that the water does drain, then you can tilt the engine up,they may be some water left, with no harm.

Hi Phil,
That's the beauty of an outboard, it does drain when vertical. When trimmed out all the way water can remain in the exaust area behind the prop, this can and has frozen and damaged some gearcases.
Hope this helps
