Hi All,

My Johnson powerhead took a cramp this weekend. Piston rod retainer (loose bolts ) broke and bust a whole ( quater size ) in the Exhaust side. So my question is, can it be fix ( welded ) is it work it getting it fix or do i have to cough up and buy a rebuilt powerhead or bare head. Pistons, rods, cylinders looks fine. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks..Looked on ebay and found one but it's a 1979 block. Will this fit on the 1984. What other year block with fit my motor? Thanks for any information.

As for the complete powerhead, all 3 cyl 49 cid powerheads are the same from 1976 to 1985. Just don't try to use a 56 cid 3 cylinder. Don't overlook a complete motor. Depending on the boat a good used 3 cyl or even a decent V4 may be a viable alternative.
