I have a Bravo III stern drive with a damaged skeg (ie it has hit something and had a decent chunk taken out of it). I have no idea what the cost would be to replace the lower unit casing. Is it possible to weld a piece on to replace the piece missing?

Yes it is, any good welding shop could do it for you. also there is a bolt on called a "skeg guard", made out of stainless that I have heard works pretty good. Or you can just use it the way it is, it won,t hurt anything other than the prop is not protected as well...
