I've read and searched some threads on non working tachs. Mine is little different than that so I thought I'd throw it out anyways.
2000 Bayliner 1850DX with the 4.3 Merc
Most of the time, say 80% of the time the tach reads fine and accurate. I was cruising the other day about 2500 RPM, decided to put the hammer down and ran her WOT, once I hit about 4700RPM the tach went to about 6000 (the engine did not) and since then it's been weird.
You can be cruising along and the tach dances around all over the place while at a constant speed.
I'm thinking a loose wire some place, I saw that often posted diagnostic PDF document, I'll look at that this week.
Just wondering is anyone else has any other ideas?
Thank you!
