Well fellers I have a problem! First off I have a 25 evinrude motor 73'model to be exact. I just spent $200 getting new points, coils, condensiers, and carb cleaned and rebuilt. I took her out yesterday for the first time since I got her back and she runs like a dream. she idles great, and the top end is great. But the problem is take off. My friend has the exact same motor as I do except a year older. we tried to race yesterday and he totally blew me away from the whole shot. we usually run identical from take off to finish. The problem is when I am sitting at idle in gear and I "floor" it the motor seems to hesitate for a few seconds, and then the motorgetts up and goes. Its almost like it bogs a little. The prop isnt cavitating becuase the engine isnt reving up when I goose the gas. Before I had the boat worked on, the boat would get up and get on plane fast! I use to could get to wot in under 15 seconds now it takes almost 30 sec.

The only visual difference in the motor its self is the position at which the Rich/Lean lever is at. (the original external knob broke, and the position of the lever on the carb is being held in place by a wire) Before being brought to the shop the rich/lean adjustment was wired about 1/3 of a turn to the right from where it is now. Could this be the culprit that is keeping it from getting a good hole shot (running too lean). I also checked compression and it is good. I just dont understand what the problem is. Other than the whole shot the motor runs fantastic.
