I recently bought an 84 mariner with 150 hp but the names for the controlls have faded away. Do i have to work the aerator for the livewells from those control buttons?

welcome to iboats. As much as I would like to help im confused. Do you have a 1984 mariner (bass-boat?) or a mariner 84 (center console) or are you saying the engine is a mariner (mercury).
Also the statement "do I have to" seems to imply you do not want to but it could also imply that you are trying to work out what all the buttons do.

can you tell us what type of boat it is ?
does it have more than one set of switchs ?
what you would like to change or find out about it ?

Some boats have drain/fill levers somewhere under or along side the console. Look around. Pictures of what you have help.

I beg your pardon, im new at this and yes, it is a tidecraft bass boat with a mariner 150 hp. I was able to figure it out. I wasn't turning on the main control button on the dashboard. I got the aerators going now. Now i have another issue, the boat takes a while to plane with load and when someone goes to the front end of the boat, it picks up speed and is able to plane. Compression was at 120 on all cilinders. Could it be a slip up prop?
