I personally wish they'd leave it on DST all year long. Just when my wife finally quits asking "What time is it really?", BAM, it's time to switch again.

Jack, I don't know why they do it for real, but I do know it's good for the kids getting on buses in the morning.

I was just asking a co-worker when we had to change the clocks. Now I know.

Here's a link to a site explaining the why ther is a time change. Somewhat interesting to breeze through. Daylight Savings Time

Re: Daylight Savings Time

I like it because we have an extra hour of light at the end of the day (sort of). I get out at 3:00 and it gives me 5 hours to fish or more after work.

DST is GREAT! I Think? Now, the wrest of the midwest is on the same time as i/we are.

We don't change our clocks & i really like that.
It's the first thing that attracted me to here.

Just wish that the COLD would realize that it's spring time. 37 deg yesterday when we put in the ol' Alumacraft w/ the '55 Rude.

BBRRRrrr! fingers went numb.

Re: Daylight Savings Time

It doesnt make any sense to me at all. Changing the clock does not make the day longer. Now the only way it would make any sense would be if you sprang back and fell forward, at least then you would be slightly counteracting the natural change in an effort to smooth out daylight time throughout the year. But why make the daylight time so much more erratic then it would otherwise be? If you want more sunshine, pick a time and stick with it, and get up earlier!
Craig

roflmao at Craig.

--------------------------------------------------
"If you want more sunshine, pick a time and stick with it, and get up earlier!"

--------------------------------------------------

Thats exactly what DST does for you. If you decided to rock up at school an hour earlier so that you could fish an hour later in the day, everybody would laugh their behinds off! With DST everybody moves their clocks an hour later so in effect everybody rocks up at school an hour earlier. At the end of summer, you move your clock back an hour.

'couple-a-decadse back, iwuz livin' in down-state rural Illinois. DST was quite the subject for some of the ol'-timers. They'ed comment on rememberin' when DST was instituted.

Talk was, back when it was first instituted, the farners were all WORKED UP.
Seems that they were scared that the extra hour of sunlight would burn the crops!

(NO, I didn't make this up)

Yes klondike, the ol' timers were and still are pretty much set in their ways and any change was a big deal to them.

I know way back when I was just knee high to a grasshopper, I would go and stay with my Pa-paw at the farm during school break and we would farm and such.

He had certain ways he did things and if you mentioned something that was different, then look out for a sermon as to why he did it the way he did.

Ahhh, them were the good days. :)
