I have the digital diagnostic terminal with the 2.0 cartridge and the 1.2 cartridge. I know the 2.0 is for mercruisers and that is what i am curious about. Are there other cartridges out there for the mercruisers, i'm not looking for the outboard ones. Does 2.0 cover all models or is this outdated?

Yes, there are newer casrtridges. Anytime the ECM changes, the cartridge changes.
The DDT is probably the most expensive system you could find. The TechMate (also Rinda) does the same thing without all the cartridges. Not as big a display, but the same functions are displayed and used. Slower, but a lot less expensive. If you have a laptop you can read in the sun, the proper cables and the $700+ for the software, you can go for the big gun (Diacom)

Just remember one thing. Any of the information shown on any of those tools only gives you the information, you still have to interpret it and make sense of it all. There is no EZ button to hit that reaches out and slaps you up side the head and says "Do This Dummy".

Haha thanks Don, i'll take a look at that. Like i said i already have the terminal but if there are a bunch of cartridges that are expensive its just not worth it. I was hoping there would just be one or two. I'll take a look at the other items you mentioned. Unfortunatly i know it won't actually tell you what is wrong but these days with all the engines with all these sensors it is getting important to have. Thanks again

after looking, i might just go for the diacom laptop. but i'll keep looking into it just to make sure before i get it. its not too expensive and will pay for itself i'm sure and i like not having to worry about those cartridges.
