What's the consensus opinion on this board? I try to do it every 1-200 hrs.

Re: De Carbon Process

All I can tell you is that I did my first de-carb at 160 hours, and it has made a huge difference. Gained 100 rpm's, got a stronger hole shot, idles better. I'm convinced that the process will extend the life of the engine. It's a relatively inexpensive insurance policy. I'm now going to include it in my 50 hour service.

James-I'm a firm believer in the constant treatment process..ie: using a fuel additive that prevents build up rather than letting it build up and then removing it in mass

Re: De Carbon Process

I've got a Force ('95) and with their track record for sticking and broken rings, and lost compression, I am paranoid about this happening to me. So I decarb every 20 outings (40-50 hours) twice a year. My comp readings are still in the mid 130's, cold engine starts are about 5 seconds, same day starts are 1 second.

I like Merc's Power Tune for a new decarb, and Seafoam or Yamaha's Ring Free to add to the fuel tank. Keeps the crud away!
