de-winterize question

asking this for a buddy. he bought a new 1950 bayliner last year with the small merc (135hp) i/o. then had them winterize it after a few trips. he fired it up in the yard this weekend, and stated that it only smoked for about one minute, and it was just slightly gray.

knowing that when i started my 2-cycle this year after fogging it and filled the entire yard with dark black smoke, it didn't sound right.

is there a chance they didn't fog his engine, or do 4-strokes act different in this case? thanks-

Re: de-winterize question

His sounds fine, yours sounds weird.Grayish smoke is what should come out on the initial fire up,not black.cc

Re: de-winterize question

didn't mean black. same dark smoke i saw when i fogged it. lasted a good five minutes, then cleared up. the engine is running great.

he said he had very little smoke. just wondering if that is normal after fogging a 4-cycle.
