I have a 1987 Suzuki dt 140. There seems to be a spot on the throttle around 1200 to 1700 rpms. It is hard to keep it at that rpm. The fuel pump, thermostat, and fuel filter have been replaced. Could this be a carb adjustment? And how do I go about adj. the carbs? [4 of them]

Re: Dead spot on throttle

That sounds like a speed where your boat might be trying to get on plane. If that is the case it will not stay at the RPMS you are stating.

It happens sitting in the yard. Starts fine and idles fine, just can't seem to hold steady at 1200 to 1700 rpms.

I have the same engine, (86 model) and experience the same thing. My wife gets on me because she thinks I am gunning it everytime. I am interested to see what others think it is as well

Re: Dead spot on throttle

Just talked to my Suzuki mech., and he said there is a power curve on those engines at planing speeds. I rebuilt the fuel pump[$19.00 and half hour labor] replaced the fuel filter and thermostat and he told me there is a ball check valve at the hose that comes from the fuel tank and to check it to make sure it is free. I'll check it this weekend.
