Was the last day we (USA) had a man on the moon during the Apollo 17 mission. Why haven't we been back since?

i'd guess dollars and risk to people could be possible reasons.

robots i'll guess are cheaper and seem to be able to get some of the initial info we'd like to acquire.

I think it was determined that there is not a lot happening on the moon. We could get some more rock, or maybe do some core drilling, but that about it.

It's not like we have not done anything else in space. The shuttle program, hubble telescope, space station and multile interplanetary probes, etc., were also awesome achievments.

Pretty much the same reason why the F-35 JSF is the last piloted fighter program. A large percentage of the cost of these programs is keeping a human safe and alive. Also the largest restriction to craft performance is human endurance. Remote exploration is now the standard and the future.

No internet connection to iboats or ispaceships.:)
I don't like to be argumentative nor confrontational... But I would think that the sattlelite reception would be pretty good from the moon.;) It's gotta be better than at my house, anyway.

Hey beefer,

With the price of fuel today, I'm really happy to have a 14.6 mile drive to work... A couple more miles and it might not even pay to go!!!
