After reading all the post about decarbs decided to do the 9.5 Johnson. Used Seafoam, Used directions under Engines FAQ. I guess if you don't get all the black crap all over the place out of engine then I can assume I did something wrong or I've got a clean engine, Just cleaner now.

Re: Decarb Issue/Question.

Did you use the tank mixing method or use the "Deep Creep" spray-in type? Either way should really clean your engine out, but the spray is more effective in my opinion. Then again, you may just have a clean running engine with little deposits... Not every engine is real carboned up as many people think.. Pull a spark plug and have a look at the piston. If it's clean, you did your job..

Thanks Rick,
I got this engine 20 or so years back. It was a basket case with another 9.5. I know how its been run since I put it back together. Probally less than 20 hours. If it stops raining long enough today will do the 30 hp. Oh, Iused the tank method.

cajun555,
Most of the "crap" people see is from the exhaust and leg...they are 10x dirtier than the powerhead gets. With only 20 hrs your motor will not need decarbing...NO way. Check it at 200 hrs and it will likely still look aok unless you run it rich and cold at slow speeds.
