Re: Decarb Procedure

It depends on the year of the 150. In 1991 OMC began installing a Schrader valve on the primer solenoid. If you have one of these later solenoids, you can hook the OMC can of Engine Tuner direct to that valve. It's a slick deal. If you have an older engine, you can purchase this updated valve from any dealer and upgrade yours to the new style. Ask for part number 175158-it comes as a kit.

Sea foam, Power tune .....there are many things that will work. De-carb proceedure does nothing for the carbs....... carbs need to be removed to be cleaned properly

Re: Decarb Procedure

What year is this 150 ..?

As previously stated if you got one with Schrader valve it will be as simple as hocking up a can of OMC Engine Tuner run the eng as you normally do when you flush it while it's running inject the entire can tell you see eng smoking as if it's on fire .

When the can is empty shut it off tilt it pretty good so stuff want drain as fast from the exhaust, let it set tell next day ..Then take her out for a nice run around 3500- 4000rpm run ( she will smoke like a ***&&&&) however all the carbon inside will be out , it will run smooth when you go back pull the plugs and replace them with new set ...

As far as the Carb them self better to pull the one a time to clean them if need it after you do the above most likely they will be good

I never done the Seafoam or any other product ..I got that Valve i use it for Fogging and Run Eng Tuner ..Good luck

Re: Decarb Procedure

Decarb means removing the carbon from inside the mtr around pistons, rings and ect. You normally run Engine Tuner or what ever through the carb throats with the mtr running. This has nothing to do with cleaning the carburetors internally themselves. To clean the carburetors, you have to remove and disassemble. That is what what Bob VT meant. CityBoy, hopes this helps.

Re: Decarb Procedure

I pull my fuel/water seperator off while on the water, pour half of the fuel back into the tank, pour Seafoam in the filter and put back on.
i run the motor for 10-15 minutes at 2500-350 RPM, shut her down and let it cool for 15 minutes, fire her back up and repeat.
When done with this, i pull the plugs and clean off, and away you go.

Re: Decarb Procedure

Actually, if a good de-carb job is done it should clean the plugs at the same time.

Re: Decarb Procedure

Hi cityboy. I justed decarbbed my motors with DEEP CREEP whcih is an aerosol version of Sea Foam. First, let the motor idel and come up to operating temp, then you just spray the Ceep Creep into the carb while the motor is running. It will bog down a little, but that's normal. Let the rpms come back up and repeat this about 6-8 times per cylinder. Then let it sit for 10-20 min and fire her up again. It will probably smoke like crazy as you do all of this, but again that's ok. That's just the carbon in the cylinders being burnned away. I used it on my '60s vinatge 10 and 33 hp motors and they loved it. They idle lower and smoother than ever before. I realize you have a much larger motor, but I gotta give a vote for Deep Creep primarily b/c it's so easy to use. Just a suggestion. Keep us posted.
