I have read a lot here on the form about decarbing your motor every one says to run it hard the next day in the water to blow every thing out here’s my problem my boat is not ready for the water yet and I have been running it on muffs for about 4 months it is a 1983 115 HP Johnson is there any other way I can clean it as it is starting to act like its getting clogged.

Re: Decarbing Question

Yes you can do the decarb by using the muffs. But you are limited to about 1500 rpm when running the motor without a load on the engine. Because of the lower rpm, the decarb may not be as thorough. But still worth doing.

Just make sure the muffs don't slip off, best to wire them in place.
