Ok so as you all may know I recently purchased a 87 Sea Ray Sundancer 268 that has a 454 magnum motor in her and the infamous Alpha one outdrive which is at its limits with the 330 horse power. Now I came across a 91 Sundancer 250 that has the 7.4 in her with a Bravo outdrive. In your guys opinion, which one do you guys think I should stick with and which one should I let go?

Re: decision

Well for one, I would have to trade in my 87 Larson DC 190 along with $7500.00 for the 91 but the kicker is the trailer is only a yard trailer, not sure if theres brakes on it, lighting or anything like that. I do know there is a winch on it though. Do you think it would be able to get me through this summer with no brakes on it? I probably would be getting a new trailer next year though. My main concern is if the trailer would make the trek back to my house with no brakes on it?

Probably depends on your tow rig and the type of drive. I would go with the Bravo though.

Could you reconfig the trailer from the 268? I assume you have one.

Re: decision

Not really, dont have a trailer for the 268. Im just wondering if that trailer that is under my 91 will work temporarily till I can get a new one. All I really need it to do is transport the boat about an hour and a half one way.

01 Durango 4X4 with the bigger 5.9 motor in it.

You're pushing it. It's not getting it going, it's STOPPING it, that is the real question., Durango's were never praised for their brakes. Towing a trailer of that size, without working trailer brakes, is dangerous, IMHO.

I do agree that the Bravo equipped boat is a better one if condition is similar.
