first, I think you are making the right decision to repower an old hull if you know and trust it; you can usually do fine with a saltwater hull like that.
As others said, look for what can be serviced locally, and what the local boaters (not boat owners) are using.
I like the 2 strokes and if it were me might stick with them, a 2 stroke carb even.
