I know, Starcraft boats are for fishing, but with 5 grandkids, we do a lot of tubing !

I am getting ready to finish installing my custom made ski/tube pole and I need some "sage" advice ! IMG_0017.JPG

Originally, I was going to put the lower mount through the sides of the splashwell. Well, that is only about 3/8"-1/2" thick plywood with an outer aluminum skin. It is NOT "formed" to the rest of the splashwell so I don't think it will have enough strength.

There is enough adjustment in those 2 outer supports that I could go through the transom, either low in the splashwell or actually above the deck further out to the sides. There is a piece of heavy gauge aluminum (.090 or .120?) in the back of the splashwell that runs up and over the back deck.

You are aware, most (all?) ski pylon makers do NOT recommend using them for tubing, right?

I didn t know that. Why? Seems like it would be less stress than a skier?

Risk of submarining the tube, its attached directly to the boat.

A skier's grip on the tow rope is the only connection between a skier and the boat.

The only thing I have heard is that some tube, especially wide flat one, can fly off the water 10' or more and dump the passengers.

Okay, I promise to use the "bridle" when towing a tube !

No recommendation on where I should connect the 2 side braces to the boat ?

You stated it would adjust to mount to the transom. That is the best "structure" to mount to.

Oldwizard, imagine how much more torque would have been applied if it'd been attached to a ski pole 24+in further above the water if it submarined.

Look it up, I'd bet ski pole and tube makers specifically mention not using the other product w theirs.
