No, the A is just a model run or suffix, relevant when ordering certain parts.

CDL-13 would be long shaft. Actually, either one would only apply as it left the factory. It is so easy to change them back and forth that it could have been done several times since leaving the factory.

The "A" or whatever suffix indicates any mid-year engineering changes that were made---IF there were any. Otherwise it means nothing.

If you want to know if it is long shaft, simply look at it. A long shaft has a very obvious 5" extension between the lower unit and midsection housing.
