What is the difference between a deep cycle battery charger and a regular battery charger? Can charging a regular battery on a charger set to deep cycle mode damage it?

Re: Deep Cycle Battery Charger

There's small differences between the correct voltages for the charging profile. Charging a regular battery on a charger set to 'Deep Cycle' will probably not harm it since the voltages are slightly less then when set to 'Regular', but it will not charge the battery up all the way.

Hope this answers your question!

Re: Deep Cycle Battery Charger

Ok, I was wondering if it did something different like providing pulsed square wave or something like that. Thanks. I had an unexplained failure of a very expensive Minn Kota Orbital cranking battery that was in advertantly connected to the wrong set of leads from my three bank charger. One set of leads was marked engine cranking battery. I was just trying to determine if it could have been the cause.

Of course I guess I could have just thrown my frequency counter on the leads when charging LOL.
