We got the snow this weekend, Here in St Point we got 14 inches of snow.
Now the deep freeze came in.
Woke up this morning and it's -17? F
I remember when 32 was cold, now that seems warm to me.

Boy the car is going to be cranky when I fire it up.. I always hate the sounds that come out of a car when it's that cold.

Just on the + side of 0 C this morning, the foot of snow we got two days ago was just a wet mess.
Still no real base for going sledding, I was pushing the wet snow instead of on top of it and digging holes in the grass in the field.

At least its not back down in the -20's C as it was 2 weeks ago.

That's the problem we had here too. Awhile back we received a bunch of wet snow b/4 the ground even started to freeze. Driveways have finally froze, but, get off into the grass and we still peel up turf if we're not careful.

But my biggest GRRRR is that the snow on roof let go on the shop twice before I could get at it.

Re: Deep freeze

It was 25 degrees here in west central FL this morning. Hadn't driven my Jeep for a few days and it was not happy about getting cranked up this morning, but it warmed up quickly. The winds are brisk out of the north again today too.

Supposed to be even colder tomorrow morning, with lighter winds though.

We're running about 20 degrees below normal here.

Re: Deep freeze

We got down to +4 degees last night the coldest sine January. I am just south of Detroit, MI. The cold weather has come on quickly here. No time to get gradually used to it. Oh well.

Re: Deep freeze

It's 23 here right now and still dropping. Coldest day/night of the season so far. I bet we get into the teens before sunup, which is still 10 hours away.

Gonna freeze my buns off in my deer stand in the morning!

Re: Deep freeze

We are getting the big storm that pushed through the Midwest last weekend. It's not as bad as it was last weekend but it's the same system. I hope that in a few days we don't get the sub zero temps that you guys are talking about!! It's been around 12* here in the mornings lately.

Wow, kind of surprised to hear that.
Our ground was well frozen by Dec 1, and hard as a rock now.

-17 last night at midnight, -14 when I left work an hour ago. Both trucks are handling it well. It felt down right balmy this afternoon when it was +18.

Sorry for you folks down south that aren't used to it.

Re: Deep freeze

-20 outside and 47 inside. Sometime last nite the boiler quit working. We have baseboard hot water heat. Now we have to wait for "the guy" to fix it. Either the ignitor or the control box must be bad. I guess we're second in line to get service this a.m. It felt good to bring the kid to the bus stop. Car was at least warm......

Re: Deep freeze

Anything north of 0 feels like a heatwave. As long as my vehicles don't fail on me, I hardly notice the cold unless it is in the -30 zone since we dress for it. Vehicles are so much better than they were 20 years ago when you'd have to take a pan of charcoal, light it and keep it under the oil pan. Fuel injection really improved our quality of life in the winter. We've got maybe 2+ feet of snow on the ground and another round coming this afternoon. Can't can't have too much snow for our snowmobiles.

It got down to 16 degrees here this morning. Fortunately, I dressed in many layers and wasn't cold at all in my deer stand.

It was so cold here that our words froze in midair and we had to put them in a frying pan to thaw them so we could hear what we were talking about.:D
