Need some advice on gel repairs. I have been quite sucessful in the past with gel repairs but that has always been on older white boats. Now I am trying to take deep scratches out of a dark blue gel and finding my limitations!! I have tried a grinding paste followed by an abrasive wax then a car wax this had some success but didn't take out the scratch just made it look more presentable. So I then tried very fine wet and dry paper followed by the previously described process all I have managed to do is put a dull spot on the gel. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Deep Gel scratches

Try to pressure wash it. Some of the Gel over there is kinda hinky and leaves perosity. So when you go to buff it out you can never get a good blend when you sand it ( compound gets into the pores and leaves it lighter ).

If the gel has no scratches left after you buff it out..then its perosity more then likely ..

What boat you got ?
