My tilt/trim motor does not work.I have checked it electrically and that seems o.k..I tried to remove the motor and the hydraulic fluid started to come out so it seems the impeller is attached to the motor shaft. Could someone tell me how to drain the fluid. Also how to replace it and bleed the system when I replace the motor. Can this be done well the boat is in the water. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: defective tilt/trim motor

It would be nice if we knew what you had. Most manufacturers are not offering replacement motors for their trim units anymore because of the extreme cleanliness needed to work on these hydraulic units,or more likely it is not cost effective for them to stock the parts. At any rate they don't really want you in there .There are aftermarket motor makers.ARCO out of Pensecola Fla. comes to mind.
