looking into a ''ready to run'' distributor set up. no reason in particular and reason doesnt matter really lol but i have the thunderbolt IV on my 1987 mercruiser 260. the ignition module is the 24S i guess meaning it has a 24 degree timing advance on top of the base timing of 8 degrees giving a TOTAL timing of 32degrees? reading the instruction on the delco EST unit it says for a TOTAL timing of only 25 degrees??? is this actually true?? or is it 25 degrees of advance ON TOP of the 8 degrees initial base timing? is the delco unit really 7 degrees short of timing vs the thunderbolt IV?? cause that could seriously impact top end power. i like the idea of the MSD disty as you can customize the timing curve and total timing but i dont got the cash for that at the moment and can pick up a DELCO unit for very good price brand new.

curious what the gurus have to say about this

Ayuh,..... The Thunderbolt ignition is 'bout the Best ignition ever put on a boat ,motor,......

Why would you want to throw away a perfectly good runnin' ignition,..??
