denso vs champion plugs

Have 1975, 70 HP Evinrude, manual calls for a L77J4 champion plug. Went to parts store to get new ones and they didn't have, they did a cross reference and it came up with a denso plug. Are these an OK plug or should I find somewhere to get Champion. I am told the gap is .040, is this correct?

denso's are supposed to be better than champion's, i bought a set my self, haven't tested them yet,supposed to be high heat tolerant. i preffer ngk's but auto zone doesn't<br />carry. try napa---if you really want champion or ngk
