Re: Depth finder not working

Does it power up??? If it's not powering up, check the fuse, or make sure you have power going to it. If it's coming on, but just does not work, then probably it may be the transducer.

They have a lot of nice good ones here at iboats mega mall. Most all can be dash mounted, but you have to buy the in-dash mounting brackets unless your getting a direct replacement.

Re: Depth finder not working

What you need to understand is that 4-Winds never made a depth finder. That is just an aftermarket item that they bought and installed. It probably has the maker's name on the front and if its one of those 2" digital reaout things it was probably made by either Lowrance, Humminbird, or Standard Horizon. I think Navman may make one of them too, but I'm not sure on that.

The things are easily replaced and are interchangable but in most cases you will have to replaced the entire unit, including the transducer. Because it all has to be replaced there is no reason why you would have to replace the dead one you have with one by the same manufacturer and of the three that I mentioned above I would take the Standard Horizon first, the Lowrance second, and the Humminbird last. Oh, all of these things sell for something around $100 complete. You could install it yourself if you are at all handy, its really not a big deal at all and lots of advice is available to compliment the fine set of instillation instructions that will come with any of the three that I mentioned (and Lowrance will really shine in this area - they have very good manuals).

Thom
