Depth Finder / Radio Interference

Every time I turn on my Garmin GPSMAP 168 Depth Finder, the sounder transmissions from it cause interference on my VHF Radio (stops the scan) and AM/FM radio. I have routed the transducer cable away from all other wiring and to the stern on the opposite side from the battery power cable. I am looking for ideas / solutions to this problem. Thank you..

Re: Depth Finder / Radio Interference

Is the depth finder wired straight to the battery??

Are both units wired into the same fuse box??

When I installed my depth finder the directions said if I did not wire it directly to the batt it may cause electrical interference with other electronics.

Re: Depth Finder / Radio Interference

Everything is wired to the same fuse panel! Maybe I should wire the sounder directly to the battery. Thanks

Wire an inline noise suppressor into the power line to the radio. Can get them at radio shack.

Just installed an Eagle Fishmark 320 and they specifically warn to hook up directly to the battery to prevent interference with other electronics. With an in-line fuse close to the battery.
