I am in the process of installing trim tabs on my '78 20' Grady White. I currently have a transom mounted transducer mounted ~12" from the chine. If I mount the tabs 4" from the chine (which is what I think is reccomended), I will have to move the transducer. Would it be ok to mount it in the 4" space between the tab and the chine? Or should I mount the transducer on the other side of the tab, closer to the outdrive?

Hi Tony,
When I added My Bennetts, I bought tabs Much Bigger than needed.....
I ended up moving 2 transducers, 2 speed sensor,+ the temp sensors.......
I tucked the speed sensors Real Close in Under the outdrive.......
And the transducers just out from there......
They've worked Great there for 2 seasons now......
I just went out,+ popped a couple pics... I'll email them to you.....

You've Got Mail............ ;)

Tony
4 inches from the chimes is not going to work well at planing speeds. Just too high in the water and on some days with some chop out of the water.

I would put it about 12 inches from the motor on the starboard side.

Many boaters will mount their transducers inside the hull backnear the transom.
