depth finder/trim gauge ...not working

'88 4winns horizon 200...

there is a digital display depth finder. All it does is constantly blink 0.0 0.0 0.0 tried checking connections, making sure clean and tight...what might be common problems for depth finders to act like this??

Also the trim gauge is pegged to the up position and will not move...what can I check on this to find a remedy???

There isn't much to the trim gauge. You have the gauge itself, the sender on the outdrive, and the wiring between the two. I'd start at the sender, operating it manually to see if the gauge moves. Perhaps a simple adjustment is all that's needed.

The same principle applies to the depth sounder. The transducer is either a shoot through the hull type or mounted externally at the back of the boat. Make sure the transducer is secure and that the wiring is ok.
