Depth finder

2002 sea ray depth finder stays at .05 and flashing. Couple weeks ago flashed 17 for a short time. When boat was out
I looked at transducer that I sprayed with transducer paint at beginning of season and it looked fine. What do you think? The first thing that I keep forgetting to do is the check connections. Any other opinions? The marina suggested buying a new transducer and making sure it is returnable and try plugging it in. Thank you, RR

The abnormalities you describe are signs of a failing transducer.

The mechanic apparently unplugged the gauge under the dash and did not plug it back in. This is why I like to do things myself. Thank you. RR
