Hello . I have a 2013 four winns 210 and have been having trouble with the alarm going off on the depth gauge even though I'm in deep water only way I can stop it is turn it off . I'm not sure if the transducer is going out or maybe the setting on the gauge it self . Hadnt messed with the settings on the gauge before it started acting up. Any help would sure be appreciated

Welcome aboard

Start by checking the settings

If that doesn't work, get a new gauge and transducer

Is the transducer inside the hull or on the transom? If on transom, make sure it points down, not detecting the hull. If inside the hull, it may be hitting some structure inside the fiberglass or some void. Maybe move it, to a solid glass part of the hull. It also must be wet to work properly.

A transducer does not need to be “wet” to function properly, The signal simply will not transmit through air.

You can fill the void(s) between the transducer and water with any sound carrying material such as epoxy, Fiberglas, etc.

Keep in mind that these materials absorb some of the energy as it pass through the material. Less is best

I believe the transducer is inside the hull by the motor I can see a circular part on the bottom of the hull and can see the transducer on the inside the hull looks clean like nothing slimed over the sensor is that what needs to be clean and clear? Thank you for the help

The transducer often does not work in some parts of the boat. Has it ever worked for you in this location.

Some folks epoxy or caulk the transducers in place, as Dingbat says. Hopefully they test them in that spot before.

My boat once needed a cup of water dumped into the bilge, at the start of the season to work all season. Of course I slipped my boat, so there is usually a bit of water that the bilge pump cannot remove.

this is the built-in depth gauge that was new in 2012/2013 with the boat.

its basically a $10 gauge and a $15 airmar transducer
