Depth gauge won’t stop beeping

So I launched my boat today after having the outdrive rebuilt, new plugs, bilge pump, spark plugs.
Everything ran great except my depth gauge will not stop beeping! I tried to reset it but it wouldn’t stop.
I looked under the dash and saw that a small black plastic horn with one wire attached was making all the noise.

My question, if I cut the one wire and remove the beeper/sounder will the depth gauge still work?

Second question, anyone know where I can get a replacement (used if possible) beeper?

Is the unit still giving the correct depth?

The buzzer is most likely the depth alarm. Replacing the buzzer will not solve anything

Its beeping for a reason. You should check what the settings are and see what they are at.
That could be causing the beeping.

Yes, the depth gauge is accurately reading. It’s the alarm that just continuously beeps.
The only time that the beeping stops is when the water is rough during acceleration when the gauge goes blank and the beeping stops.

i cannot set the target depth. In my opinion the beeping function is broken but the gauge is still reading the correct depths.

I was just wondering that until I replace the gauge can I cut off the beeper so sanity sake and have the depth still accurately register.

What is the depth alarm set at?

most likely the alarm depth is set too deep, hence the beeping.

set the unit correctly.

it would help to know what you have.

I have attached a picture of the transducer.

The gauge is a Faria.

I cannot set or adjust the gauge. It’s obviously broken.

My question is....until I replace the entire system can I just cut the wire going to the device (on the picture) that is constantly sounding?

will my depth gauge still show the depth of the water like it is now just without the alarm going off?

Hope I explained it better this time.

Thank you

Faria is most likely buying the unit.

post a pic of the unit, not the transducer.

Sorry, it’s a Hummingbird depth gauge.

Sorry, it’s a Hummingbird depth gauge.

Hard to believe that the SET function isn't working if the depth potion is functioning properly.

Can't believe the buzzer is hard wired directly to the gauge or power source. I would look for a termination point before taking such drastic (cutting) action

CONTROL FUNCTIONS

The HDR 600 uses 3 buttons to control the Shallow Alarm, Deep Alarm, Keel Offset, and Units of Measure function. Wile in normal operation, pressing the SET button selects a Function and blinks its corresponding indicator on the display. Once a Function has been selected it may be adjusted by pressing the UP and Down arrow buttons to adjust the setting. Further presses of the SET button will sequentially select the other functions for adjustment. All user settings are remembered by the HDR 600, even when powered off.

Some of the work done on the boat was in the bilge. Is the transducer still solidly mounted? No cut or damaged cable?

Before cutting wires, find the fuse for unit and pull it. If the alarm stops, the unit is causing the noise, not a bad beeper.

And make sure the transducer cable is firmly plugged into the back of the gauge.
