My new Faria depth sounder just arrived and I have a question concerning the installation of the transducer. The one that came with the gauge has a adjustable dead rise adjustment. The problem is that the maximum dead rise for this adjustable mount is 22 degrees. My boat has a dead rise of 24 degrees. Am I out of luck over a 2 degree difference?

If your boat sat perfectly level at all times, maybe. But since it rocks and the attitude changes constantly, I doubt you will see any difference in depth.

I spoke with Faria and they told me using the 22 degree angle would work without a problem on my 24 degree dead rise. My problem right now is figuring a way to get down into the bottom of the hull with two motors side by side leaving me very little room to access. That will be my challenge right now.

Don't worry about it.

I installed a high performance, tilted element transducer on my boat several years ago. I was advised by the manufacturer to not use the advertised dead rise, but to actually measurement the area where the transducer was to mount.

Chances are, you'll find that the mounting location in all actuality isn't 24 degrees.
