i brought friends boat over to winterize, winterized fine, tried to trim up to trailer back wont go up, pump unit hums/runs, normal sound when engaging (down only) when going down , but when i press up starts to move 1/4/inch then no sound no further up motion.

can anyone explain how if possible to releive the presure to manuall lift so i can move the boat to repair shop. I can get the model or tell you the style of pump about 10-12 year old sea ray....i see on the lower unit it has 4 lines to each side on the out drive i can stick my finger in oil reserve it has plenty hydrolic fluid, desperate to get boat moved

rick m/c pumps have limit switches too keep from trimming too high while running on plane. your problem is working normal. push the trailer button on the middle of throttle handle and this will move the unit all the way up. some boats have this swi. on the dash. good luck. RAYMOND

The switch could be either on the control or on the helm somewhere. Just depends on the year and type control you have.
A picture of the control would sure help.

If its a mercruiser and you are truly DESPERATE to move her..

Pull the arms off and use a cargo tie to hold the drive up..

disclaimer..

Not a permanent fix, but if you dont have the time to figure the real problem, you can get the drive up and secured for moving. Also should not be winterized or stored in the full UP position anyway..so I hear..
