Hello everyone, I acquired this boat cause a guy owed me some money. It has an awesome engine that works and bilge pump that works, but the floors are all rotted. He showed me all of it was working by hooking some hose thing up to it. I am unable to find an owner manual for this boat, I want to rip out what's left of the floor and redo it. I've pulled the seats and brackets and started to pull out the wood which is partially attached in the bow to fiberglass. I got freaked out that I may cause additional damage and stopped. I also ran into water which is under the wood and in the back of the boat. In reading I found that you can pull a plug or something and drain the extra water, but I don't know where it is or what it looks like. Please any advice anyone could help me with would be super appreciated. I don't have crap for cash to pay anyone to fix it. I bought some wood and waterproofer for the wood and was given vinyl to redo the seats I pulled out. Really what have I got myself into with this, but I really want to take my kid out in a boat and try to get something out of the money that was owed to me. Anyone have any constructive advice besides bagging it or selling it? Id really like to have a boat.

Just gut it and put new wood and glass back in it. It is intimidating at first. Grinding the old glass is the worst of it.

Read threads of people that did it. Mine is almost done and it was a rot case. Take millions of pictures and measurements you will need them.

There probably will not be a manual or much info on the boat. Just got to fly by your cuff. Replicate what you see there already.

Congrats on the new boat. And good luck on your rebuild.

It is a rewarding experience and in my humble opinion well worth it. And I haven't even floated mine yet and I say that.

You can get a lot of good advice, as chevymaher, mentioned on here. We would be happy to help you on your journey. It is a lot of work, but very rewarding! The red boat in my signature was spray painted black and white, strip to the hull and had a tree growing in it when I bought it.

There should be a hole (with plug) at the low point at aft (rear) of boat. Plug may be left in, or it could be clogged with cr@p. Unplug that hole, get the boat tilted up, and let 'er drain.

Post some pics of what you're workin with, it'll help you get better help

to restore or not is your choice.

first, prior to doing any work, do you have the title/registration?

as for the hull restoration, plenty of threads on them.

as for the floor, cut it out. you will be cutting out the floor, stringers and transom and starting over from the inside of the outer-hull and rebuilding everything

If the floor is that rotten then there's a very good chance your transom and stringers will be also. You can check this by taking core samples and examining the shavings. A rotten transom is a big job to redo. I know you don't want to hear this but I think you got hosed on this one. Best would probably be to part it out, sell the trailer and cut your losses. Transom was done on my boat, to do it the upper hull was removed from the lower hull to get access to the transom. Not a job for the faint of heart.
