Some friends of mine gave me this old Evinrude Sport Twin. I'm having trouble finding out what year it is. They thought it was about a 5 hp or so. It has good compression still. Originally it was going to be a wall hanger/ conversation piece in my bait shop but now I'm wondering if I should try to get it running. Information and opinions would all be greatly appreciated. 10687201_862873380392445_4999666809018557639_n.jpg 10665816_862873393725777_93849006822699193_n.jpg 10609530_862873440392439_7477101658332164458_n.jpg 10614412_862873617059088_7718766655354334137_n.jpg 10432535_862873473725769_6408016526811974042_n.jpg 10351231_862873640392419_2190191664748988477_n.jpg 10271614_862873597059090_5427034081444888247_n.jpg 10177437_862873520392431_3313018214968148858_n.jpg 1604499_862873417059108_9079735090158417514_n.jpg

Don't know about it as a everyday motor but definitely nice to fix up and putter with.
Its missing the front cowl. A compression check first will help tell the condition.
I've never seen the magneto but I think they are pretty reliable and easy to work on.
Clean and adjust the points .020. By serial number a late production 3.3 hp with J6J plugs set at .030. 1/3 pint to a gallon. 5.3 ozs. TCW3 outboard oil.
It uses a primer and I don't think there is a choke per say. Turn the red mixture to move the primer arm so it pushes down on the
float pin that sticks out of the top of the float assembly. This floods the carb so it will start cold.
If it hasn't been used in years you'll need to go through the fuel system from tank to carb.
Don't know if it has a pump but you will need to be sure it cools properly.
