Hello!,

Well, summer is almost over! I need to detail my boat and get ready to store it in the garage. Two major things have come up for me. First, I had the boat in the water for about a 2 week run. It had a boat scum line which I was about to clean, but there are brown stains on the hull. What can I use to take care of that. Also, I have small specks of tree sap that have latched onto the vinyl interior of the boat. Any ideas on how to get that stuff off? I have tried solvent and denatured alcohol already.

Thanks for the help! Any advice is appreciated.

Dave
:)

Re: Detailing Boat

For the scum line stains I have used a liquid gel toilet bowl cleaner such as sno-bowl and a sponge to apply cleaner to hull, let sit for a few minutes give it a light scrub and rinse off with plenty of fresh water, Try to protect your trailer and any galvinized parts, the cleaner can damage, thats why a perfer the gel type cleaner because is sticks to the hull and does not drip all over the place, as far has tree sap goes try not to use solvents on your seats it hard on the vinyl, I always had good luck with just plain hot water a some hard scrubbing, if that does not work I have had very good results with a Bio-degradable product called Simple Green, Its available at Wal-Mart here if you can't get that then I suggest a good citrus based cleaner, the natural acids should be able to cut the sap, plus it will not kill the vinyl...
