Check out the Coleman Xtreme coolers! They were just as good in a independent test as far as cooling and was rated the best buy related to price/quality. Much cheaper than your engle or yeti. I know guys that have bought the yeti and haven't been that impressed for the money. I haven't had much luck with igloos over the year either. I bought a soft cooler this season and it has been great. It is also a colman. Can be folded up when not in use.

I have an xtreme that I bought at a bait shop this year. Kept my food frozen for 4 days when my camper fridge died.
Some friends on another site bought an xtreme from Walmart and it was junk. Me thinks Walmart sells name brand built
to their specs....junk specs that is. Here is the thread. A lot of good info.

Don't think the Xtremes come in 120 quart, but even if they do it's not just about cold retention. (By the way, I have one that didn't come from Wallyworld. The paper thin layer of plastic has worn away in spots exposing the insulation.) It's about durability. I'm tired of breaking latches and having coolers I can't sit on or stand on and fish from or drag around without wondering if this is the time the handle's going to break off. As I said before, I've had it. Trust me, I've pondered this for two years, covering every angle and trying every "alternative", and there is nothing for less than than $400 that will meet my needs for years to come. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Thanks for the thoughts.

Just trying to help. Guess you didn't look at the link above. They make all different sizes including a 120 quart. I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure the Xtreme coolers don't even have latches. I'm sure you will be happy with the yeti, they are great coolers. Just to pricy for me. To easy for it to walk.

Just ordered a 120 quart Yeti. Better be the shiznippity for what it cost. Now Sasto will have a seat when he goes on a float trip with me.

Oh....my plans were to tie a line to the bow, turn my hat around backwards, stand up, and hold on.

Gee Whiz, what are you guys doing with these things??. I don't think I've EVER retired a cooler. I think I have half a dozen of them, going back to an early sixties Coleman metal one. The difference I see is the ability to actually keep things cold. What a concept? Whodda thunk it?

I have an ancient (early 1980's) Gott' that keeps ice longer than anything else I have. Including a new "Marine" Igloo. The problem is that the Gott is butt ugly (eighties Orange).
:facepalm: I tried painting it but.......

I have found that cooler preperation, is the key. For smaller ones, I actually put them in the freezer the night before. If you start off with a cold cooler, it keeps ice/product cold-much longer. The same holds true for the bigger ones-PRE COOL them.

As for the handles and hardware, I have yet to replace a single piece on the half dozen, or more, I own. However, I don't handle them like an airline baggage handler either!

Bass Pro. I wanted tan and they happened to have one. Bruce, for what I assume to be your intended use you might be better off going with a Canyon Bomber Box. Probably just as good as a Yeti and a bit cheaper, and the Canyon guys are very responsive and forthcoming with info. I went with the Yeti for a couple of reasons, but they weren't quality related.

DJ, your words are true, but you have to realize I'm not talking about the old Gotts or Igloos. Those were great coolers, but sadly, like most everything in our society it seems, they truly don't make 'em like they used to. When I use a 120 quart cooler I suspend it in a raft frame or set it on the deck of a party barge. Imagine the incredulous looks I get when I say "sorry, you can't sit on that cooler", and I won't even get into the cold retention (or lack thereof). Igloo does still offer a "marine" cooler, but it's $250 and has the same crappy latches as the rest of their coolers, so it makes sense to me to pay another $200 for a cooler that will literally outlast me (even if I do handle it like I work at Southwest Airlines).

The Yeti has arrived. Holy schneikes what a beast. This thing is a tank. Two inches of insulation in the walls and three inches in the lid, freezer gasket, gasketed threaded drain plugs that drain without being fully removed on either end, tie-down slots on the ends that the lid closes over, and nylon marine rope handles with textured rubber grips. Can't wait to put it to work.
