Hello! I'm new to the site. Just purchased a 100 hour 2003 DF-140. Got it home hooked up water with earmuffs. Started instantly. Let it run for about 60 seconds but no water came out anywhere. Is there a delay or should water start flowing right away. My 1st 4 stroke..Go Saints:)

No water output = Problem.

If the muffs are on right and you turned on the water.

You got a problem.

Don't run it until you check the inpeller or you are gonna have bigger problems.

You should get water out the exhaust fairly quickly. Good luck.

It comes out the exhaust but there isn't any stream coming out of a little hole anywhere.

If water is coming out of the prop hub, then the tell tale is plugged. Look for a plastic fitting at the back of the engine cowl. Stick a needle into the hole and try again.

Had a friend with a new boat that wasn't getting a telltale using muffs though he was getting water out of the hub. Of course he was concerned and drug it to the lake where he found he had a good telltale with the boat in the water. Seems that his muffs, (twin feed type), didn't have enough spring tension for sufficient seal against the housing, because when he wrapped a bungee over the muffs he got a normal stream out of the telltale.
