df140 stalls out

2006 Suzuki df140, currently 65 hours.

A month ago the motor stalled out twice about 30 seconds after starting. Both times the motor revved to about 2500 RPM as soon as it started, and about 100 yards later stalled out completely. Would not start again until I gave the bulb a squeeze. I took it the the dealer and they diagnosed a bad anti-syphon valve. $95.00.

Boat ran fine since, then yesterday it did the exact same thing 3 times over the course of the day, ran fine for about a dozen other starts.

All 5 times the motor revs as soon as I start it, then runs OK until it runs out of fuel. The motor never revs if it isn't going to stall. A squeeze of bulb can get it running again, it will not start without the squeeze. One other thing that might be a factor, both days it stalled it was in the high nineties (98-100 degrees), when it is cooler it has not stalled.

I'm not to excited about another 60 mile round trip to the dealer if they don't know how to fix it. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Re: df140 stalls out

Sounds like you have a fuel restriction somewhere and what little fuel you have in the fuel line is vaporizing in the high temps. First thing I would do is get rid of my anti-siphon valve. They are useless on outboard motors. All they will do on an outboard is restrict fuel flow.

If I am vaporizing fuel, I must have a leak somewhere in the line, correct?

Anybody know how much fuel is between the pump and the injectors? Does about 30 seconds worth sound right?
