DF20 Fuel Inlet

There is a plastic tab located just above the latch pin on the fuel inlet of my DF20 (see pic). I am wondering if anyone knows it's purpose. I bought a new fuel line assemble (not from Suzuki) and the seating flange on the connector is obstructed by this tab. I can easily file down the flange on the new fuel line but was bit concerned that there may be a reason Suzuki put that tab where it is.

The fittings may look the same but…….

There have been slight changes in these parts over the years. How deep they push on before they lock on, if they are for the tank side or the motor side, Suzuki, omc, mercury,etc.

If not correct, it may not lock on, or the inlet needle may not be depressed.

I’m no expert on this, but have seen it several times in the past.
