2001 DF60 Keeps draining the battery while it's running. I have tried 2 new batteries now and the same thing keeps happening. Boat does not have a volt meter, but I have put a volt meter to a fully charged battery before & after starting the engine and the meter reads the same voltage while running (almost 12 volts). So it is not getting a charge because if it were it should read a little over 12 volts right? When running it will drain the battery within a 20 minute ride and not crank back.

I unplugged the 3 lead connector (yellow wires) coming off of the alternator and all three read a/c voltage that increases & decreases with engine rpm increase & decrease. So I know the alternator is putting out. What would you suspect the problem is. These parts are too expensive to be chasing with money to trouble shoot like I did with the Power Trim Tilt relays.

Thank you

You most likely have a bad voltage regulator. Most common cause of failure is loose/poor battery conections. Suggest you either bring to a dealer to confirm or purchase a service manual so can diagnose properly.

Thanks Lakensea, that is what I had narrowed it down to from the wiring diagram in the manual, but I wanted a 2nd opinion without mentioning what I thought it was. It was the only other thing in that series of wires.

Also makes sense about the loose connection causing the failure because when it originally happened, the terminals were not very tight. Closest dealer is 2 hrs away & really don't want to make the round trip two times (drop off & pick up) if at all possible. I thought I did good by buying a Suzuki, but failed to realize the nearest dealer was so far away.

Your help is very appreciated.
