My last trip the temp alarm went off. It is a yr 2000(bought used) with low hours and impellor had never been changed. Figured it needed changing anyways and did it. The old one was in perfect condition still so that was not the alarm cause.
Next step is checking the thermostat and pressure valve. The question is, do I need a thermostat in hawaii? Water temps are 75+ and a chilly morning brings air temps bearly into the 60's in winter.
Years ago when I had old cars, I changed out many water pumps. I left out the thermostat when doing. It is not needed for cars here.
Does my outboard need it? Thinking of just removing it.
PS: This is my first post. Many thanks to everyone that contributes. I have had a few issues and been able to figure it out by searching this forum. I'm an experienced sailor, but outboard power boats are new to me.
