On a 86' Merc. 175, with a four bladed 24p prop. Does 5200-5400 rpms sound normal...<br /><br />Motor runs great, idles at 700, but wanted to make sure this prop is the reason for the lower rpms at wide open.

Sounds right to me , how long is the boat?

Just shy of 18 ft, Heavy Ranger 371V.

That sounds like the motor is running strong. I would expect a few less RPM with a heavy boat and a 24. The 4 blade must make a difference.
