Hi. Can anyone tell me where I can find a diagram for rear motor mounts on my 3.0 Mercruiser...1997. How can you tell if they need to be replaced? Thanks.

Usually the bushings collapse, the engine alignment, goes out, and the engine coupler is destroyed.Drive should be removed for checking and adjusting the alignment annually.
manuals can be found in the "Adults Only" section

Re: diagram for motor mounts.

Hi. Thank you for all your replys. I had the timing cover changed a month ago,and was looking for leaks. I have a 1997 Campion boat with a 3.0 mercruiser. I noticed that where the front of the engine mounts to the hull,on both sides it looks like the fiberglass is cracking. It's making me think the motor mounts on the back....maybe front too are worn out. Is it hard to replace them, and whats the best way to fix the crack in the hull? Can you also tell me what the name of the part of the hull where the motor mounts to. Thanks again for any advice.

When the rubber separates from the metal, or the rubber is real soft, the mounts should be replaced. If the alignment suddenly goes out of adjustment and the front mount hasn't been touched, they may be bad.

The factory installer probably didn't drill a big enough pilot hole, or didn't drill one at all, for the lag bolts used to hold the front motor mount to the base.

There probably is a name for it, but I don't remember what it is. Cross stringer, motor mount base????

To replace the rear mounts you have to remove the engine, press out the old mounts and press in the new ones.

To repair the fiberglass, best to post that over in the restoration and hull repair forum, they cover fiberglass repair.
