The service manual and the parts manual for what ever year engine and size of engine you have would be the place to look.

It depends on Which motor,+ the Year.......

I don't believe Any of them mount to the Block........
All I've seen mount on/with 1 of the accessories to get it into alignment with the Belts.........

That year had 2 different versions of the engine, one with a balance shaft and one without. But be that as it may, Mercruiser never used the Bravo drives on the 4.3's back then, so I don't think you're going to find any diagrams showing how to install the Bravo style raw water pump that is engine driven.
Why are you trying to install that pump instead of the pump in the drive?

DON, its for a full fresh water system that im putting together, I hear that the drive pump will not bring in enough water to support the system.

With the Gen II drive, and only a 4.3L (Not a V8), your drive pump should work fine unless you are boating in 80°+ water.
I would sure give it a run and find out before going to all the expense of changing pumps, buying brackets, pulleys, belts, thru-hull fittings, hose...........etc.

jgw, if you do indeed end up going with the engine mounted pump, find a diagram of a 5.0 and 5.7. They should have similiar if not identical bolts holes on the front of the block. There is a bracket that the pump mounts to (with 4 or five bolts), and then that bracket bolts to the block with just two bolts. One word of caution, I know that on the carbed big blocks (7.4), the mechanical fuel pump was part of the raw water pump. I don't know if the carbed small blocks (5.0 5.7) were the same. I think this was done, because the raw water pump would physically hit the fuel pump, which is on the right side of the motor, near the front. So if your 4.3 has a carb, the fuel pump may be in the way.

Thanks Don and Tilliamwe, I will find out if the water pump is a must for this and whether theres any modifications I would have to do if I needed the pump on the block.
