HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME WITH THIS. I DID A COMPRESSION CHECK ON MY 87 125HP FORCE. I WAS IN A HURRY, AND I MUST OF HAD A SENIOR MOMENT.AFTER I TOOK THE READINGS AND DISSCONNECTED EVERYTHING, I REALIZED TWO THINGS.
1)THE MOTOR WAS COLD.
2)THE THROTTLE WAS PROBABLY ONLY PARTIALY OPEN.
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW THIS MEANT EFFECT THE READINGS? THE READINGS FOR THREE CYLINDERS WAS ABOUT 120 AND THE FOURTH WAS ABOUT 110. COULD I EXPECT THAT IF I HAD TAKEN THE READINGS UNDER THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES, THEY WOULD BE HIGHER?.
THANKS

Please don't shout (all capitols) Thank you.

Your motor compression sounds fine. Yes a few mistakes were made but none that cost any money. Even if you had higher readings with a warmer motor they are all still within range. If you still have doubts do them again.

Bob :)

Hi,

The cold engine will have a higher reading. When the engine is warm, the engine expands and you will get more accurate readings.

BC

Yeah, they probably would have been a little higher but what you're looking for is not how high the pressure is but how consistent (for lack of a better word) the readings are. Ideally, all four cylinders would be the same but all within 10% of each other is acceptable.

c/6

Hooty
