Did I burn out Tach?

Wired my tach to engine backward, sender to 12v. pos, 12v. pos to sender. Does anyone know what if any damage i did? Thanks.

Yes I did rewire. The tach changed from reading about 2000 rpm with the key on and not running to 7000 rpm with the key on and not running. wired both ways, starting engine had no effect on tach. Now I know why it did not work when i wired it the first time, dont know why it is not working now. wondering if i fried something? Thanks
